Satchel & Steel beginner guide: gear, loot and saves
Learn what fights from your backpack, how to rotate equipment, choose loot and keep your browser save.
Pack the equipment you want to use
Only equipment inside the backpack fights. Storage holds spare items; check whether a newly acquired item is still there before starting a battle.
Drag to arrange gear and press R to rotate the selected item on desktop. On mobile, use the rotation control. Try turning long items before placing them to avoid unusable gaps.
Check neighbour effects and traits separately
Inspect each item. Some effects require specific neighbouring gear, while traits require enough qualifying items in the backpack. A full bag does not guarantee a working combo.
Check active traits and the next enemy warning before fighting. If a fight is difficult, look for useful equipment left in storage before spending gold on recruitment refreshes.
Choose loot, then decide what comes next
After a victory, choose one loot item or skip the choice. Return to the finished battlefield to inspect the result and review, then advance explicitly to arrange your backpack.
Progress is stored in this browser. Website login does not provide cross-device cloud saves for the game. Clearing site data, private browsing or switching devices may lose access to this progress. WeChat and browser progress are separate.
